Gati Shakti portal maps key transmission projects across renewables-rich States
New Delhi, July 7
The Prime Minister’s Gati Shakti National Master Plan portal will showcase key details of nine high-impact power transmission projects spread across six renewable energy-rich States.
The PM Gati Shakti NMP portal provides ‘one-click comprehensive view’ to steer and simplify the planning and implementation of power transmission projects.
It would also aid in improving logistics efficiency through a single digital platform and multi-modal portal.
“In line with the goal of PM Gati Shakti, entire existing inter-state transmission system (ISTS) lines have been mapped on the portal. Also, 90 per cent under-construction ISTS lines have also been integrated in the portal and remaining will be integrated after finalisation of route survey by transmission service providers,” the Power Ministry said in a statement on Thursday. “Of these projects, the Power Ministry has undertaken nine high-impact power projects (10 transmission lines) spanning across six RE rich states — Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu.
The projects requisite details have been mapped in the portal, by creating a separate layer of ISTS transmission lines incorporating basic data (like route, tower and substation location, name of owner),” the Ministry said.
For the development of power transmission projects, PM Gati Shakti NMP portal will play a critical role in planning, tendering, implementation and approval stages.
Game-changer
Launched in last October, the PM Gati Shakti NMP would be a game-changer providing multi-modal connectivity of infrastructure to various economic zones by leveraging technology extensively, including spatial planning tools with indigenous ISRO imagery developed by BISAG-N, Gujarat.
NITI Aayog to map projects
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday asked the NITI Aayog to map projects such as freight corridors, industrial corridors, National Industrial Manufacturing Zones, logistics parks, and pharma hubs for incorporating under the PM Gati Shakti initiative.
Addressing the first meeting of the Apex Monitoring Authority for the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme on Thursday, the FM also suggested that the Shipping Ministry should look at all the ports connected to various industrial corridors to see whether there are meaningful linkages. “I would like the NITI Aayog to map all this (industrial corridors, freight corridors, defence corridors, manufacturing zones, textile parks, logistics parks, medical and pharma hubs). Map it all and tell us where you see a possibility for bringing them under the PM Gati Shakti,” she said.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who also attended the meeting, said that rail connectivity has to be an integral part of planning of project nodes and land acquisition can take into consideration the requirements of Railways.
Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal stressed on the need to focus on attracting investors quickly in these industrial corridors and asked NICDIT as well as States to have road shows to attract businesses.
